Plan and deliver your work

LESSON 1 OF 5

Build a project delivery plan

Set up a job and organize the issues that deliver it.

Overview

A project brings together the work for one job or outcome. Its description explains what you are delivering and the important boundaries of that work.

Status records the project’s stage. Health communicates whether its plan is on track or needs attention. These describe different things, so review both as the job progresses.

Before you start

Open a project that has a few issues, or choose a job whose delivery plan you want to review.

1Review the project scope

Open Projects and select the job. Read its description and check that it explains the agreed outcome and boundaries.

2Check the delivery plan

Review the team, project lead, dates, status, and health. Set responsibility and the planned window to match what you know.

3Review the work inside it

Open an issue in the project to check its owner and progress. Keep task instructions on the issue and return to the project for the wider view.

4Connect the checkpoints and context

Review Milestones and Updates. For client work, check the company and deal links so the delivery plan stays connected to the relationship.

Put it into practice

The project connects a clear scope, responsible people, and the tasks and checkpoints needed to deliver it.
