LESSON 2 OF 5

Create and review a customer invoice

Create a reviewed invoice and understand its balance and activity.

Overview

Customer invoices show what you have billed and what remains to collect. Check the draft against the agreement before sending it, then use the balance and payment history to understand what is still owed.

A partial payment reduces the remaining balance without marking the whole invoice paid. Your customer invoices are separate from your own Scoped subscription invoices, which live in Workspace billing.

Before you start

You need an enabled invoicing workspace and appropriate access. Have the client’s agreed scope, amounts, payment schedule, and terms ready.

1Start an invoice

Open Invoices and choose New invoice. Start from the relevant deal or a blank document, then choose the client.

2Review the draft

Check items, quantities, rates, schedule, and terms. Use the preview to review the document while editing.

3Review the recipient and message

Open Review & send to check the recipient and email before confirming. A queued message alone does not establish delivery.

4Review balance and activity

Open a sent invoice and check its remaining balance, payment history, and notice activity. Record a manual payment only when that payment was actually received elsewhere.

Put it into practice

The invoice matches the agreement, and the recorded balance reflects actual payments and any sending activity that needs attention.
