LESSON 4 OF 5
Connect projects to a broader goal
Group multiple projects under an outcome and review them together.
Overview
Use an initiative when several projects contribute to a shared result. A studio refresh, for example, might bring repainting and lighting projects together before a reopening.
Initiatives are workspace-wide and can connect projects across teams. Each project still contains its own milestones and issues.
Before you start
Identify the broader outcome and the projects that contribute to it. If Initiatives is hidden, enable it in your personal Preferences.
1Open the initiative
Open Initiatives and choose the goal you want to review. Give its description a clear statement of the intended outcome.
2Check the plan and owner
Review the initiative’s owner, status, health, and target date. Update them to match the overall plan.
3Review the linked projects
Link the delivery projects to the initiative. Open an individual project when you need to act on its milestones or issues.
4Explain changes to the wider plan
Return to the initiative’s progress and updates. Post an update when a project change affects the shared outcome, and review the initiative’s own status separately.
Put it into practice
The shared outcome and its delivery projects can be reviewed together without losing each project’s detailed plan.
