Build client relationships

LESSON 5 OF 7

Give the next client action an owner

Schedule a client action with an owner and a due time.

Overview

A follow-up records the next action in a client relationship. Link it to the relevant deal or contact so the conversation stays connected to the opportunity.

Use an issue for delivery work inside a job and a follow-up for the client action that moves the relationship forward.

Before you start

Choose the client action you have agreed and identify the person or deal it concerns.

1Create the follow-up

Open Follow-ups and choose New follow-up. Name the action clearly, such as Confirm the estimate with Jordan.

2Link and assign it

Choose the deal or contact and the person responsible for taking the action.

3Set the right time

Set a due date and time, then save. Use Today and Overdue to review what needs doing. Waiting contains follow-ups placed in a waiting state; All shows the wider open list.

4Record the outcome

When the action is done, complete the follow-up and record what happened. Create another follow-up with its own owner and time if there is a next step.

Put it into practice

The client action has a clear owner and due time. The Waiting follow-up filter is separate from the Waiting on you conversation queue.
